Obesity Prevention Australia aims to achieve our 2050 vision, through implementing the 7 pillars of our strategic plan.

Because our mission is obesity and metabolic disease prevention, the current major focus within the ‘Healthy Australia Initiatives’ is the ‘Healthy Futures Initiative’  (targeted toward children, youth, parents, and school communities). This comprehensive approach to health creation education will ensure the next generation of adults will have the knowledge, skills and habits necessary to live healthy and happy lives free from the significant health problems associated with obesity including diabetes, heart disease and early mortality.

Just as educating school communities allows us to reach a maximum number of Australians with optimal effectiveness, educating companies and businesses through our ‘Healthy Workplaces Initiative’ allows us the same scope within the adult world. With an approximate 5% unemployment rate at any one time, educating and implementing strategies within workplaces is of paramount importance to changing habits within the Australian Community.  Our major annual initiatives of National Health Awareness Month (NHAM) and ‘Wear it to Work Day’ specifically help to identify the need for workplace health reform and active social participation amongst work colleagues.
